SEBRING COUNCIL – Sebring Village Council’s Legislative Committee will be 6 p.m. Tuesday. Among items to be discussed are rental registrations, vacant properties, animals, Police Department age limits and trash aggregation.

SEBRING LOCAL – Sebring Local Schools’ Board of Education plans a special meeting at 7 a.m. Tuesday at the district administration office at 510 N. 14th St. in Sebring. Purpose of the meeting is to approve board policy.

MOTORCYCLE SHOWCASE – Salem Historical Society plans a vintage and custom motorcycle showcase from 1 to 4 p.m. May 11 during the Second Saturdays Blessing of the Bikes. The historical society will play host to a vintage and custom motorcycle showcase, with models Vulture Customs. Skeeter’s Graphix will live-paint a bike part, inspired by Salem’s History, and the society will auction the part in a silent auction to benefit programming. All local vintage motorcycle owners can show off their bikes for a chance to win two free tickets to Salem Historical Society museums and bragging rights to “Salem’s Best Vintage Bike.” Motorcycle industry vendors will be on hand, and a historic presentation on the history of motorcycles will be given in the meeting room. SALEM SECOND SATURDAY – Among other activities during Second Saturday will be a Blessing of the Bikes from 10 a.m. May 11 at Redneckside Motorcycle Whips, 145 S. Lundy in Salem. Activities during the event will include refreshments, a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and giveaways. Proceeds will go to 330 M.E. Inc. Fallen Rider Fund. WALKING TOUR – Salem Preservation Society will offer a walking tour of Salem during the upcoming Spring Fling event set for May 18. Docent-guided tours will run 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning at 443.S. Lincoln Ave., where tickets and tour books will be sold for $15. Tours will point out the historic homes along South Lincoln Avenue, from Columbia Street to Southeast Boulevard. Certified underground railroad homes and carriage houses will be highlighted. SEBRING ZONING – Sebring Village Council’s Planning and Zoning Committee will meet at 6 p.m. May 5. Purpose of the meeting is to review the zoning map and code.

MINERVA NIGHTS – Nights on North Market in Minerva will kick off May 10 with live music, art, shopping, food and drink. Among activities will be a Market Street Art Spot reception from 5 to 9 p.m. featuring “Birds Eye View,” a juried invitational group show, live music by Tom Freeland and Friends, and light refreshments. A popup pocket park will be set up along West High Street, between North Market and Main streets, with live high energy acoustic music from Ren Rocks from 6 to 9 p.m. Also there will be games and activities, including a carnival game. Crafters, vendors and local organizations will be set up on High Street, and ducks will be for sale for the Homecoming Roxy Theatre Duck Race. TEEN DRIVING – Stark County Sheriff’s Office has announced a simulated driving experience for teenage drivers at 6 p.m. May 16 at its Law Enforcement Training Center, 143 1st St. SE in Massillon. The "Teens Vs. Distracted Driving - Simulated Driving Experience" is open to teenage drivers and their parents, and aims to highlight the dangers of distracted driving and emphasize the importance of safe and defensive driving practices. Participants will be able to use a state-of-the-art driving simulator, providing a hands-on experience that demonstrates the potential consequences of distracted driving in a controlled and safe environment. SQUARE DANCING – The Friendly Squares plan their monthly square dance (Pie Night) from 7:30 to 10 p.m. May 11 at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. in Niles. Gene will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will cue line dances. This will be a plus dance. Dress is casual. There will be a $7 donation per person at the door. PHYSICAL THERAPY OPEN HOUSE University of Mount Union’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program plans an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 in Gallaher Hall on campus. Prospective students can connect with faculty and current students. Sessions will run from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m., with each session also featuring a tour of Mount Union’s cutting-edge health facilities.
