Iowa Area Education Agencies (AEA) are feeling the pinch of dwindling funds after a new law signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.

For many, they can’t make plans until the Statehouse is gaveled out for the session. Republican lawmakers are still working through the budgeting process, and there are funds still in flux from a planning perspective. Democratic leaders in both chambers discussed the issues AEA officials are making aware to them every since it was signed.

Heartland AEA says with its budget estimates back in January until now, it is planning to operate without $10 million that it originally thought would be there three months ago.
