OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — As Channel 4 celebrates its 75th anniversary, we are opening our film vault.

In 1978, students from Langston University organized peaceful sit-ins at the state capitol, fighting politicians who wanted to close the University.

When Lt. Gov. George Nigh couldn’t get to his offices, law enforcement moved in.

The students were pulled out of the capitol.

This didn’t stop the students as they continued their efforts and eventually saved Langston.

This is forever preserved in the WKY/KTVY/KFOR Channel 4 archives.
