Archie Bradley played Santa and a human bowling ball over the weekend
Archie Bradley, the very talented reliever for the Arizona Diamondbacks, is definitely enjoying his offseason. He was in the Phoenix area for his friend’s bachelor party over the weekend, and he had the time of his life at two different sporting events: an Arizona Coyotes hockey game, and an Arizona State University Sun Devils basketball game. And if you’re wondering if Bradley just watched those games, you know better than that. He was involved in both of them in the best way possible.
Let’s start with Saturday, when Bradley went to the Coyotes game. He participated in a round of human bowling on the ice, and he was the bowling ball. Outfitted in a Coyotes jersey, helmet, knee pads and elbow pads, Bradley sat on a plastic sled and was catapulted down the ice by an actual slingshot until he ran into a bunch of foam pins.

OK, that looks like a lot of fun. And if you’re curious how it looked from Bradley’s perspective, he was wearing a GoPro and recorded the entire ride.

Bradley’s weekend of fun sporting events wasn’t done, though. On Sunday he went to an Arizona State basketball game and actually played a role in their victory against Vanderbilt. Bradley and his voluminous beard played Santa in ASU’s famed Curtain of Distraction. When the opposing team makes free throws, an actual curtain is pulled back on the sidelines and something weird and funny emerges to distract them. On Sunday, it was Archie Bradley as Santa.

And it might have worked! According to azcentral.com, Bradley is unofficially credited with causing Vanderbilt to miss one free throw.
What a day!!! GREAT WIN Sun Devils! Thank you @SunDevilHoops & @942Crew for the love! Get to cross the #CurtainofDistraction off the off bucket list!! #ArchiesAdventures #Day2 #AZSportsTakeover pic.twitter.com/pOdfU2PVmQ

It certainly looks like he had a great time. Though doesn’t Bradley look weirdly familiar dressed as Santa? He looks a little bit like this guy …
If anyone ever does a live action version of the 1970 Rankin/Bass stop-motion TV special “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” Archie Bradley should definitely play young Kris Kringle.
