The 234-year-old Archdiocese of Baltimore faces a daunting task and an identity crisis. The archdiocese has reached a pivotal point. Leaders told 11 News they can no longer rest on laurels and that it's time to take a hard look at the future and move forward. The reality is, the archdiocese is grappling with Chapter 11 bankruptcy amid allegations of clergy sexually abusing children over eight decades. Now, the archdiocese is considering inevitable mass church closures due to a drastic attendance drop in recent years, as well as aging infrastructure.
