This weekend has been a boon for film and TV fans of every nerdy inclination, but over on the East Coast, music fans have been holding their own celebration at the first-ever Panorama Festival in NYC.

And for Friday night headliners Arcade Fire, their festival set doubled as a tribute to late music icon David Bowie:

The band announced the tribute on Instagram, partnering with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to do tribute to Bowie via a New Orleans-style second line parade:

This isn’t the first time the band’s organized this particular tribute; they did the same soon after Bowie’s passing, again with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band in New Orleans.

This time, they covered “Rebel Rebel,” “Heroes,” and “Suffragette City” for the effusive crowd.

Covers, as a practice for bands, can be hit or miss, but when they’re done respectfully and, particularly, in service of a recently-passed and much-beloved figure, they are revelatory. In my own music library, I have a copy of Arcade Fire’s “Five Years” cover, and the band actually teamed up with Bowie himself for a cover of their anthem “Wake Up”:

So, do those of us who weren’t at Panorama feel the FOMO over this tribute performance? Yeah, and quite a lot of it. But luckily, we can watch the parade vicariously through social media; do so below:
