Arapahoe County deputies search for driver who slammed into gas pumps

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (KDVR) — Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies are searching for a driver who crashed into gas pumps at a station in Centennial.

The sheriff’s office said deputies first spotted the late-model purple Dodge Challenger going about 90 miles per hour on Broadway at 4 a.m. on Thursday.

Deputies tried to pull the driver over, but he took off, accelerating to speeds over 100 miles per hour, according to the sheriff’s office.

When the driver tried to make a turn onto East Panama Drive, he lost control. The Challenger went over the curb and slammed into the gas pumps at a Conoco station at 6450 S. Broadway.

Somehow, the driver was able to back up and take off.

Deputies said the driver is believed to be a male wearing a hoodie pulled up over his head.

The collision caused about $30,000 worth of damage to the pumps and gas station.
