For AR Kids give update on signature drive to get amendment on November ballot

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — For AR Kids, a group looking to get the “Arkansas Educational Rights Amendment” on the November ballot is still collecting signatures.

The amendment calls on any school receiving public funds from the LEARNS Act to have the same standards public schools currently follow.

The group said on Tuesday it’s sitting at about 45,000 signatures, about half of what they need. It said around 25,000 signatures have been counted, and that there are about 20,000 signatures left to be counted.

For AR Kids said it’s seeing a high-turn out for signatures in rural areas of the state.

Potential ballot measures for Arkansas 2024

“People are asking us for the signature page, and then they’re actually passing the word on. That’s actually how this fire started, and it continues. So the rural areas are on top of their game. So we’re headed to the top,” Elaine Williams with the Concerned Citizens of Prescott said.

The deadline for the group to collect the necessary amount of signatures is July 5.
