A month’s worth of rain expected this week

EVENING: Cloudy, areas of mist and drizzle. Temps in the 40s.

TONIGHT: Rain returns overnight. Low 45.

TUESDAY: Waves of rain, additional 1-2″. High 45.

We started April with steady rain earlier today and now we’re getting a break for this evening and early tonight. Rain amounts from this morning ranged between 0.5″ to 1.0″. We stay cloudy with temperatures in the 40s early tonight.

Another round of rain arrives later tonight and we begin our Tuesday with another round of steady rain. Waves of rain will move through the state for Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain totals each day will average between 1-2″, eventually leading to grand rain totals this week between 2 to 4 inches of rain. The average rainfall for the entire month of April is 3.55″.

Once this large system exits off the coast Thursday, we still have to contend with leftover showers and cloudy skies Thursday. A steady northwest breeze of 10-15mph develops Frirsday and lasts through Saturday with temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than average (highs in the 40s).

We do expect calmer and milder weather conditions to return Sunday and last into Monday. Good news for those wanting to view the solar eclipse Monday afternoon.
