Chrysler sales up 11 percent for best April since 2007

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Chrysler Group LLC said Wednesday that its April U.S. sales rose 11 percent, led by a strong performance from the Ram pickup.

BY THE NUMBERS: The Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker said it sold 156,698 cars and trucks last month, up from 141,165 a year earlier.

TOP SELLERS: Ram pickup sales were up 49 percent to 31,409. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increased 27 percent to 15,003.

HOT MODELS: Dodge Dart compact had its best sales month since a new version came out in June. Chrysler sold 8,099 Darts in April. But the Chrysler brand performed poorly with sales down 13 percent to 27,836.
