There's a new app on the market that allows users to save, rank, and search for their favorite restaurant dishes around the world. According to TechCrunch, Foodmento is essentially a "hybrid between the new Foursquare/Yelp and the #foodporn hashtag on Instagram." After sharing and ranking their favorite dishes, users can share posts with their friends. Users can also search for dishes through a series of filters including price, cuisine, and location.
Most interestingly, after locating a dish, the app gives users the option to find Google Maps directions, access OpenTable to make a reservation at the restaurant, or even order the dish on Seamless for delivery. Foodmento's website notes that the app will also pre-populate the caption when users share a photo of a dish to Instagram. TechCrunch adds that when a user's friends visit a place the user had previously checked in to, a notification appears so that the user can "start up a conversation and perhaps recommend a dish." The app officially launches out of beta today and currently has in its database over 15,000 dishes from 3,500 restaurants in more than 40 cities around the world.
