Appleton hosts Touch a Truck event to bring community engagement to public services

APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – The city of Appleton held its “Touch a Truck” event at Pierce Park on Thursday evening, allowing people to see different types of equipment.

All kinds of city personnel and more showed up to give demonstrations and look at all the city’s equipment. This event allows people to connect with those working with the city, something Mayor Jake Woodford says is really important.

“To get to meet some of the people that do that work is really special because a lot of the time when our staff is out in the field and doing their jobs, there’s not a great opportunity to have that conversation and learn about what’s happening or how things work,” said Woodford. “This provides an environment where we can do just that and really get into the details.”

All the kids in attendance also received a free bicycle helmet to promote safety this summer.
