Apple Valley Sheriff’s officials said deputies over the weekend responded to several calls, including a suspected burglary and arson at a grocery store.

At around 9:42 a.m. on Sunday, July 16, deputies were dispatched to a possible burglary at a home in the 13000 block of Quapaw Road in Apple Valley.

Deputy Rex was informed that the owner had not been to the residence in a few months and when she returned, she found a different lock on the door.

Upon arrival, deputies found an unlocked door and entered the residence, where they located suspects Tiffany Ann Crossland, 38, D’Angelo Malik Jones, 25, and Hailey May Crossland, 19, all from Apple Valley.

During the investigation, it was determined a TV, safe and vehicle were missing, along with other items, sheriff’s officials said.

Crossland, Jones and Crossland were arrested on suspicion of burglary and grand theft auto. They were transported to High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, where each is being held on $30,000 bail.

WinCo fire

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of starting fires in a restroom at WinCo Foods store in Apple Valley.

At about 5:25 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, employees at the WinCo called to report a fire in the men’s restroom inside the store at 19047 Bear Valley Road.

Deputies Benjamin Almazan and Stacey McMillan responded to the store and found the fires had been extinguished and the suspect was still at the location.

Deputy Almazan learned that multiple fires had been set in the men’s restroom by the suspect, Hector Huerta, who was  confronted by store employees and a retired firefighter.

Huerta was arrested on suspicion of arson and transported to High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, with bail set at $80,000.
