Apple Store insults customer with awful anti-gay slur printed on receipt

Apple Stores are perhaps the most respected retail establishments in the world, racking up more revenue per square foot than any other large retail chain on the planet. Of course, not all retail store employees live up to expectations, and one Portland, Oregon Apple retail location now finds itself in hot water following an unfortunate incident involving anti-gay discrimination.

Apple customer Adam Catanzarite claims that he is the victim of discrimination at the hands of an Apple Store employee, who allegedly entered the man’s email address as “f@g.com” on his receipt.

“I got called a f@g by an Apple employee here in Portland,” Catanzarite wrote in a post on his Facebook page. He says he spoke to the store manager about the incident, but the manager failed to rectify the situation.

“Being queer and having worked with queer youth, I know first-hand that this is an example of the type of homophobic beliefs and actions that lead young people to harm themselves,” Catanzarite said in his post. “This type of action is NOT OKAY, especially from a company that prides itself on being LGBTQ inclusive and welcoming.”

According to OregonLive.com, an Apple spokesperson confirmed that the company is aware of the incident but declined to provide any further comment.
