Apple showcases new iOS 6 features during iPhone 5 unveiling

Apple has quietly created the world’s largest hedge fund worth $117 billion

No surprise, here. Apple (AAPL) re-introduced features for iOS 6 at its iPhone 5 event in San Francisco. Notable features include full-screen mode for Safari to take advantage of the iPhone 5‘s wider 4-inch display, turn-by-turn navigation for its home-grown Maps app, Passbook and a smarter Siri.

Apple revealed that Passbook will be accessible from the lockscreen — meaning all movie tickets, boarding passes and membership cards can be accessed quickly in standby mode.

Siri can will receive all of the updates that Apple announced at its WWDC conference in June, including the ability to pull more information on topics such as sports with less lag than on the iPhone 4S.

iOS 6 will drop on September 19 for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 5, iPod Touch (fifth-gen), iPad 2 and new iPad (third-gen).
