Apple: People chose Android over the iPhone to stay with carrier, not for the OS itself
An internal Apple (AAPL) survey from 2010 that was used in the company’s ongoing trial with Samsung (005930) highlights the key reasons why consumers would choose an Android smartphone over an iPhone. The Cupertino-based company found the most predominant reason, accounting for 43% of those surveyed, had nothing to do with Google’s (GOOG) mobile operating system but instead customer loyalty and satisfaction with their current carrier, The Verge reported. The study was conducted in 2012 before the Verizon Wireless (VZ) finally launched the iPhone last year. The survey also revealed that 36% of those questioned trusted Google, while 30% preferred a device with a larger display, 27% preferred the Android Market, 26% wanted better integration with Google’s services, and 25% were interested in the latest and greatest smartphone.
