Apple’s colorful new iPod touch expected to launch in three weeks

Apple (AAPL) announced the fifth-generation iPod touch alongside the iPhone 5 last month, but it only vaguely said it would ship sometime in October. Although the U.S. Apple online store still shows a ship date of “October,” Today’s iPhone claims the Australian Apple online store website temporarily listed the 32GB (PRODUCT) RED model of the iPod touch as shipping in three weeks.

The fifth generation iPod touch features the same 4-inch IPS Retina display (1136 x 640 resolution) as the iPhone 5, a 5-megapixel iSight camera with LED flash, 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera capable of recording 720p HD at 30 frames per second, up to 40 hours of music playback, 8 hours of video playback, and includes a special metallic button that pops out for a loop lanyard attachment. It comes with the new Earpods, Lightning to USB cable, five anodized aluminum colors including a special (PRODUCT) RED model, and two storage capacities: 32GB ($299) and 64GB ($399).
