'Game Of Thrones' Spin-Off 'The Long Night' Might've Cast Two More Major Roles
Game of Thrones spin-off The Long Night (the very same one that's not actually called The Long Night) has potentially cast two more major roles.
HBO has deliberately not publicly named the Thrones prequel, even after casting Naomi Watts in a leading role. All that was announced was that it would be set centuries before Game of Thrones in the Age of Heroes.
Now, reports claim that Jane Goldman and casting director Lucinda Syson have set their sights on two more actors for key roles – Sheila Atim and Denise Gough.
According to That Hashtag Show, Atim – an Olivier Award-winning stage actress – would take on one of at least six lead roles meant to be filled by people of colour.
Steel Country star Gough would reportedly fill another critical role in the series. Though the pair have not officially joined the Thrones prequel, they are said to be in negotiations.
Last week, GoT author George RR Martin cleared up some confusion over the upcoming prequel show's title.
Martin named the prequel as The Long Night in a reaction to Watts joining the show. "Casting is now underway for The Long Night, the first of the Game of Thrones successor series to ordered to film," he previously wrote.
Writing on his website, Martin later backtracked, saying: "Oh, I should also mention… HBO has informed me that the Jane Goldman pilot is not (yet) titled THE LONG NIGHT.
"[That] is certainly the title I prefer, but for the moment the pilot is still officially UNTITLED. So… mea culpa, mea culpa, mea culpa."
