APD files additional charges against suspect following officer-involved shooting
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque Police filed additional charges against a suspect who they said pointed a handgun at an officer during a foot pursuit on Thursday.
APD says an officer approached the suspect, later identified as Joey White, on the sidewalk in the area of Central and Mesilla, when drugs fell out of the man’s pocket. White allegedly then fled on foot and the officer gave chase.

White initially told detectives he pointed a BB gun at the officer who was chasing him. The officer reacted by firing his handgun, but White was not injured, police said.
On Friday,, officers found a 9mm handgun under an old washing machine in a nearby backyard The firearm was loaded and determined to be stolen, police said.
Detectives learned that White is a convicted felon. He is now charged with receiving stolen property (firearm), and felon in possession of a firearm, in addition to his previous charges of aggravated assault upon a peace officer with a deadly weapon, and distribution/possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
