Device found in south Austin not explosive, APD says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A “device” found abandoned in south Austin Thursday was determined not to be explosive, according to the Austin Police Department.

Earlier in the afternoon, the APD Bomb Squad responded to reports of an “abandoned hazardous device” at the intersection of South Congress Avenue and Wasson Road.

That’s just north of Stassney Lane.

Police were previously asking people to avoid the area, but now the scene has cleared, according to APD.

Police said this was an isolated incident, and there’s no threat to the general public.
