APA Signs ‘The Reckoners’ Author Brandon Sanderson

APA has inked a deal with the New York Times bestselling fantasy/fiction author Brandon Sanderson, signing him to its Intellectual Property Group, Variety has learned exclusively.

Sanderson’s trilogy of YA novels “The Reckoners” was recently set up at 20th Century Fox through Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps banner. “The Reckoners” taps into the current obsession with superheroes by positioning superpowered individuals as humanity’s oppressors in a post-apocalyptic landscape, with a group of rebel humans known as the Reckoners fighting back against them. The first book in the series, “Steelheart,” debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times Young Adult Bestseller list.

The spin on the popular genre follows Sanderson’s other novels including the “Mistborn” series, “The Stormlight Archive” and his continuation of Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” saga.

Sanderson is repped by Joshua Bilmes at JABberwocky Literary Agency and Matt Sugarman at Weintraub, Tobin, Chediak, Coleman, Grodin.
