Antioch recycling center closing after repeated dumping

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – One of the busiest and most popular recycling centers in the Antioch area is closing. Cane Ridge Recycling Center drop-off will be closing on May 30.

Metro Waste Services cited continued dumping of un-recyclable material as the reason for the closing. The closest recycling center to Cane Ridge is Ezell Pike Convenience Center at 3254 Ezell Pike.

“We see everything from clothes, construction debris, light bulbs, bags of trash of just household garbage, and a whole myriad of things,” said Jennifer Harrman with Metro Waste Services. “We are seeing folks clearly using this as a dumping ground instead of a recycling center.”

According to Harrman, Metro Waste Services sends over 170,000 tons of trash to landfills every year and recycles more than 10,000 tons of trash a year. Cane Ridge’s site brings in 500 to 1,000 tons alone.
