Lockdown Antioch neighborhood lifted as police arrest homicide suspect

(KRON) — A neighborhood in Antioch has been placed under lockdown Monday afternoon due to police activity. There is law enforcement activity in the area of Gentrytown Drive and Putnam Street, according to an alert from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.

Police are searching for a suspect who fled the area. The suspect, Carlos Palacios, is described as a 28-year-old Hispanic man. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, has brown hair, brown eyes and a goatee, officials say.

People are being advised to lock down in the nearest safe place.

“Go inside, close and lock all windows and doors,” the alert advises. “Stay off the phone and do not call 911 unless you need to report life-threatening emergency.”

Anyone who encounters the suspect is asked to contact the Antioch Police Department.
