Anthony Weiner's Sexting Scandal From Start To Guilty Plea
Anthony Weiner has been in and out of the news for the past six years after explicit images of the then-married U.S. congressman from New York began circulating around the internet in 2011. In the years since, Weiner became the subject of a multitude of sex scandals, including one that involved him exchanging explicit sexual messages and photos with a 15-year-old girl.
Weiner, 52, was set to appear in court Friday to enter a guilty plea to one charge of transferring obscene material to a minor, a charge that could land him a spot as a registered sex offender.

May 30, 2011: Weiner denies he had anything to do with the image and tells reporters his phone was hacked.

Jun. 1, 2011: Weiner doubles down on his claim and reiterates to CNN that he did not post the image.
Jun. 6, 2011: Weiner appears in front of reporters to admit having posted the photo on his Twitter account. “To be clear, the picture was of me and I sent it,” he said, adding that he had no plans to resign or separate from his wife, Huma Abedin.

Jun. 12, 2011: A lewd photo of Weiner in a locker room is published by TMZ.
Jun. 16, 2011: Weiner resigns from Congress, issuing a public apology for his mistakes and “for the embarrassment I have caused.”
May 21, 2013: After many uneventful months, Weiner announces he's running for mayor of New York City. In his public announcement, he acknowledges his “big mistakes” and asks the public for a second chance.
Jun. 23, 2013: Images of an explicit conversation involving Weiner appear on the internet. Shortly after they emerge, Weiner admits he had engaged in sexual chats online after he resigned from Congress. Abedin appeared alongside Weiner to say that she would be sticking by him and had forgiven him.
Jul. 23, 2013: Weiner admits to engaging in an online affair under the alias “Carlos Danger.”
Sept. 11, 2013: The results of the New York mayoral race are announced, with Weiner winning less than 5 percent of the vote.
Jun. 13, 2014: Reports emerge that Weiner favorited a tweet that called Tinder the “ultimate sext machine.” Weiner quickly apologized and said that he “accidentally hit the star thingy…Sorry.”
Oct. 21, 2014: In an interview with Politico, Weiner said his political career was “probably over.”
Aug. 29, 2016: Yet another explicit photo of Weiner emerges, this time of him shirtless in boxers sitting next to his sleeping 4-year-old son. Abedin publicly announces she would be separating from Weiner.
Nov. 2, 2016: Reuters picks up a Daily Mail story that alleges Weiner had checked into a sex addiction rehabilitation clinic, but could not independently verify the claim.
May 19, 2017: Weiner surrenders to the FBI and is set to appear in court to plead guilty to one federal count related to sexting minors. The plea would likely make him a registered sex offender.
