Anthony Michael Hall, best known for starring in "The Breakfast Club," has been convicted of assault. Hall allegedly broke his neighbor's wrist during a September 2016 argument.

Hall, 49, and the neighbor, Richard Samson, got into an altercation about an unlocked gate at their shared condominium complex. He pleaded no contest and will serve 40 hours of community service. Had he been convicted of the original felony charge, he could have faced up to seven years in prison.

According to the neighbor, who also suffered a back injury during the incident, he and Hall had gotten into disagreements before.

Hall is a member of the "Brat Pack" of the '80s, which also includes Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald. He co-starred with Ringwald in "The Breakfast Club," and among dozens of other film and TV roles, he was a "Saturday Night Live" cast member at age 17 -- the youngest in the show's history.
