Anthony Hopkins' new series with GoT star gets release date

Anthony Hopkins' gladiator drama Those About To Die has landed a release date at Peacock.
An adaptation of the book of the same name by Daniel P Mannix, the series will consist of ten episodes and drop on the streamer on July 18 in the US (via Deadline). There's no word yet as to when the show will be available in the UK, but we'll update you as soon as we know more.
Developed by Robert Rodat — who penned the Oscar-nominated script of Saving Private Ryan — the series stars Hopkins as Emperor Vespasian and is set in the business of ancient Rome's bloody gladiatorial competitions.

Starring alongside Hopkins is Iwan Rheon, known for playing villainous Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones, as Tenax. Sara Martins, Tom Hughes, Jojo Macari, Moe Hashim, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Rupert Penry-Jones, Gabriella Pession, Dimitri Leonidas and Emilio Sakraya will also feature.
The big ensemble for the series is rounded out by David Wurawa, Pepe Barroso, Gonçalo Almeida, Eneko Sagardoy and Romana Maggiora Vergano.
The release date was announced in a teaser for the show, introducing the key players of this epic story of gory entertainment for the masses.
"The telling of history is but a history of war," Hopkins' voice as Vespasian says in the clip before inviting the citizens of Rome to "place their bets" on the gladiators' lives and deaths.

Episodes of the series are directed by "master of disaster" Roland Emmerich, known for disaster movies such as The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 and the recent Moonfall, and Marco Kreuzpaintner, who sat behind the camera for series Bodies and The Lazarus Project.
Those About To Die starts streaming on Peacock in the US on July 18. A UK release date has not been announced yet.
