Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will remain in Reid Health's network after agreement

RICHMOND, Ind. — After six months of negotiations, Reid Health and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield are staying together after all.

On Thursday, March 14 both sides released statements announcing that the two had reached a contract agreement ahead of Monday's deadline.

Had the sides not reached an agreement, customers covered by Anthem would have lost insurance access to the Reid Health network of medical providers.

Beth Keyser, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, said:

"We are pleased to announce that we’ve reached a new multi-year agreement that ensures uninterrupted access to care for our customers at all Reid Health facilities and physician offices. The contract achieves our goal of providing access to quality care without excessive increases in costs for the employers and individuals covered by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield benefit plans. In addition, we appreciate that Reid shares our commitment to a value-based contract, tying reimbursement to achieving quality benchmarks and improving the health outcomes of our members.”

In Reid Health's statement, President and CEO Craig Kinyon said:

"Through this agreement, we see that Anthem and Reid Health are equally committed to investing in excellent rural healthcare. Our first priority has always been to ensure our patients have access to the care they need. We appreciate the patience and support of our community and patients as we have worked through this process."

Reid Health added that all patients covered by Anthem insurance should keep their scheduled appointments and schedule new ones as needed, and that those with any questions should visit reidhealthaccess.org or call the community helpline at 765-965-4250.
