Another woman, 69, punched in the face on NYC street: NYPD

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A 69-year-old woman was punched in the face while walking down the street on the Upper East Side earlier this month, police said Tuesday.

The suspect randomly attacked the woman near Lexington Avenue and 83rd Street at around 12:50 p.m. on May 7, according to the NYPD. The victim was taken to the hospital with facial bruising and swelling.

The bald man was carrying a backpack and dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and blue pants, and ran off after the incident, police said. There have been no arrests.

In the past few months, women have been punched in the face in a string of more than a dozen random attacks that were reported to police and posted on social media.

A 72-year-old woman was punched in the back of the head while she was walking near Fourth Avenue and 96th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn on May 8, according to the police.

Citywide misdemeanor assaults are up nearly 7% this year compared to 2023, according to the latest NYPD data.
