Another round of strong to severe storms by early morning

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Unsettled weather pattern continues through Friday morning; however, we will see a lull in the active pattern for your Thursday evening. Energy does not start to lift back into the region until around midnight and into the early morning commute.

Thunderstorm complex number one has pushed out across the region, but we did see localized flash flooding, numerous power outage reports and even a confirmed tornado across parts of Schley County.

Tornado Watch continues through most of the region until 5 PM eastern time. With our three Tallahassee counties of Clay, Quitman and Randolph through 9 PM eastern.

Computer models still indicate thunderstorm complex number two builds across east Texas and moves eastward into Mississippi and west Alabama late tonight. We could see some energy lift into the region around midnight; however, this does not look severe.

Latest timing has storms arriving across east Alabama as early around 3 AM central time and moving through the region into the early morning commute hours. Storm system should be completely gone by 8 AM eastern.

Threats with the secondary thunderstorm complex will be: Damaging winds up to 60 mph, isolated tornadoes along the line can not be completely ruled out and wIth the heavy rainfall expected flash flooding may also start to occur.

Gradual clearing will start by late morning and into the afternoon with a great Friday evening shaping up across the two-state region. Mother’s Day Weekend will be greeted with plenty of sunny skies and less humidity before our next chance of rain returns for next week.
