Another rainy weekend in forecast for SLO County. Will the weather affect Shabang?

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, San Luis Obispo County — we could be in for a rainy Saturday.

The rain happens to land on a weekend booked with festivals across the county, from the Atascadero Tamale Festival to the local indie-electronic music festival Shabang.

Here’s a look at the weekend weather forecast and how it could impact local festivities.

Weather forecast for SLO County

San Luis Obispo County is in for a mostly sunny weekend, interrupted by rain in the forecast for Saturday.

Friday will be sunny with a high near 73 degrees, cooling to 51 degrees with the potential for patchy fog after 11 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

On Saturday, however, the Weather Service predicted a 40% chance of rain after 11 a.m., when San Luis Obispo could receive up to a quarter of an inch of rain.

The weather will otherwise be cloudy with a high of 63 degrees on Saturday.

The early May rain will be short-lived, however, and sunshine will return on Sunday, with a high of 70 degrees.

How will weather affect Shabang music festival?

San Luis Obispo’s indie-electronic music festival Shabang is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Dairy Creek Golf Course. The lineup includes R&B icon Thundercat, Vancouver-based indie band Peach Pit and local indie rock band Couch Dog.

But you know what they say, the show must go on — and that’s the plan for Shabang regardless of the rain.

The music festival will proceed as planned, according to a spokesperson for the event. Guests should bring rain gear and appropriate footwear.

“Our team has been closely monitoring the weather forecast and has implemented contingency plans to ensure a fantastic and safe experience for everyone. We are prepared to adapt to any weather challenges and maintain the high standard of entertainment that the festival is known for,” Shabang organizers said in a statement. “The safety and comfort of our attendees remain our top priority.”
