NEW YORK (AP) — A second motorcyclist is facing charges in connection with the beating of a motorist pulled from his car and set upon by a group of motorcycle riders.
Reginald Chance was arraigned Sunday in Manhattan on charges including assault and gang assault and held on $75,000 cash bail.
Although there's no evidence Chance hit the driver, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Samantha Turino says Chance set in motion the events that led to the beating. Prosecutors say Chance broke the motorist's window, allowing the other riders to drag him into the street.
Defense attorney Gregory Watts acknowledged his client broke the window but says Chance then got on his bike and left. He says it's wrong to charge Chance with participating in a gang assault and he will "hotly contest" those charges.
