Another great day; timing return of storms

Monday will be the best day of the week with more sunshine and temperatures back near 80°. Sunday marked the first day of the year reaching 80° in Indianapolis and we could see that again today. A front dropping through the state today will lead to a wind shift out of the north. This will create a temperature spread with highs likely only reaching the mid and upper 70s in our northern counties to the low and mid 80s in our southern counties. A few isolated showers are or storms are possible late in the day but this chance is very low.

A few spotty showers and storms will be possible overnight into the predawn hours early Tuesday. Our severe weather threat heightens the next couple days but there will still be many dry hours and more mild weather to enjoy. Most of Tuesday is looking dry but we won’t be as sunny. However, temperatures will still climb back to the upper 70s on gusty winds that shift out of the southeast.

It’s late Tuesday evening into Wednesday that we will see rain and storms develop with the potential for severe weather. The first round comes Tuesday evening into the overnight hours. All severe weather threats will be possible. Be sure to have a way to get alerts when you go to bed Tuesday evening.

The next round comes Wednesday afternoon along a cold front. Again, all severe threats are possible.

From here, we see daily high temperatures continue to cool through the week, sending us back to briefly below average levels this weekend.
