Annual Bunny Run delivers toys to area hospitals

(WHTM) – Hundreds of motorcyclists gathered at the Hummelstown Fire Department Saturday morning to collect and deliver stuffed bunnies for sick kids at Midstate hospitals.

All of the stuffed animals were either donated or bought by motorcyclists. Organizers say there’s a reason they do this specifically for the Easter holiday.

“This was one of the avenues that we decided to use was the Easter holiday knowing the kids would rather be out there, doing easter egg hunts or eating chocolate as opposed to sitting in the hospital trying to get better, so this is our way to try to put a smile on a kid’s face,” said Rich Fanning Jr., co-founder of the Pennsylvania Bunny Run.

Bunnies were delivered at  13 hospitals, including Penn State Hershey, UPMC Harrisburg  and Carlisle Regional.
