The Angels first-round draft pick will dunk on your head
With the No. 17 pick in Monday night’s MLB draft, the Los Angeles Angels picked an 18-year-old outfielder named Jordyn Adams. Adams is out of Green Hope High School in North Carolina, and like Kyler Murray, the Oakland Athletics’ first round pick, Adams is a multi-sport athlete. He’s committed to the University of North Carolina to play both baseball and football.
Adams has more talents than just football and baseball. He’s also pretty good at basketball, and will 100% dunk on your head at a moment’s notice.
If you’ve been watching that dunk over and over and over again, you’re not alone. That’s a professional grade, old school, in-your-face dunk. It’s beautiful. It’s majestic. The kid trying to defend him had no chance. And that dunk? It’s from two years ago, when Adams was just 16!
It’s not a sure thing that Adams will sign with the Angels. He’s a very talented wide receiver, and the best recruit in UNC’s 2018 class. He’s just 18, and he’s got a chance to play both football and baseball for UNC. But the Angels wouldn’t have picked him in the first round if they didn’t think they had a chance to steal him away from UNC. That first round pick is worth just under $3.5 million, which could be enough to persuade him to begin a career in baseball. And with those dunking skills, just imagine the kinds of leaping catches he could make in the outfield.
