Angelo State Rams begin spring football practice ahead of 2024 season

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Angelo State football team is back to work as they host spring football practices for the upcoming 2024 season.

The Rams are coming off a 7-3 season in 2023, while missing the postseason for the first time in three years.

“We get our guys to go out here and continue the work that we put in in the offseason and in the weight room,” said head coach Jeff Girsch. It’s kind of that celebration of the offseason right, getting out here and getting to compete in the game that we love. Seeing the development from these young players, it’s so important to get them back out here being consistent in what we’re doing, get these young guys out here and build the depth that we do as a developmental program. You know, it’s so important for these guys and they’re loving it.

With the season officially getting underway in five months, the Rams are attacking each day head on as they search to get back to their winning ways and compete for a national championship.

“Spring football is definitely the foundation period where you of lay down what you’re going to do for the rest of the season. Get guys reps where it’s needed, figure out where the holes are and figure out where we’re going to go from there. But it’s definitely important and we’ll see where it takes us, but it’s just the start,” said junior redshirt Eric Rascoe.
