De’Angelo Bryant leaving Silver Bluff Bulldogs after six seasons as head football coach

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – Silver Bluff Bulldogs head football coach De’Angelo Bryant has confirmed to WJBF NewsChannel 6 that he is leaving the program after six seasons with his alma mater. Bryant won two state championships as a player with the Bulldogs in 2000 and 2001 before playing at Wake Forest as a running back.

Bryant led the program to a 38-26 record in six seasons as head coach. In 2021 Silver Bluff finished with a 12-1 record, won the region championship and played for the 2A state title in class 2A.

As the head coach, 33 of Bryant’s Silver Bluff players signed to play at the collegiate level during those six seasons. Bryant also was on the Team South Carolina Border Bowl staff for several games, including as head coach two years ago.

Bryant is expected to be named as the new head football coach at Gray Collegiate. Gray Collegiate is a private charter school that recently was reclassified from 2A to 4A by the South Carolina High School League. They will play in the same 4A region as Aiken, North Augusta, Midland Valley and South Aiken when reclassification takes place next season.
