Angelina College Roadrunner statue removed temporarily

LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – Angelina College has announced that their beloved roadrunner statue has been temporarily removed to “undergo necessary enhancements.”

The picture below shows the statue in it’s prominent spot along Highway 56 on the college’s campus in Lufkin.

“We understand the sentimental value the Roadrunner holds for many in our community and want to make sure that it continues to look great for years to come,” said Krista Brown, associate vice president of student services at Angelina College. “These updates are being done with the utmost care and respect for its legacy. We are confident that the refreshed Roadrunner will continue to inspire pride and joy among all who see it.”

The college said that they decided to do these updates so that the statue “continues to embody the energy and enthusiasm that define our college community.”

They said they’re expecting the Roadrunner to be back within the next month and that the statue’s “iconic look” will be maintained.
