Andover affirms annexation plan

Mar. 14—ANDOVER — Village Council members decided to put their own signatures to an annexation agreement after members and leaders of the Andover Fraternal Order of Eagles, suggested they do so.

"Some of the board would like you [council] to sign the agreement," said Andover Village Administrator Richard Mead.

The annexation was recently approved by council and signed by Mead and legal representation.

Mead said the group just wanted the added commitment from council.

"It is a sign of some solidarity," he said.

Council voted unanimously to sign the agreement and then proceeded to add their signatures. Country Meadows has also agreed to annexation into the village.

Mead also suggested the village needs to set some financial priorities to improve some of the streets in the village after a resident complained about the condition of several streets.

Council has talked about a variety of ideas on financing road improvement projects, including the possibility of a levy, but has not created a plan yet.

the Ashtabula County Solid Waste Management plan.

—Mead said the village clean-up efforts will take place May 10-11 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Council also discussed village-wide Memorial Day weekend garage sales and are reviewing the possibility of centralizing the sales in a parking lot instead of on roads were parking becomes a potential safety issue.

—The village Easter Egg hunt is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 30 at John R. Overly Recreation Park.
