Anderson stabbing victim identified

May 9—ANDERSON — Anderson police have identified the victim of a Tuesday stabbing at a Meridian Street gas station.

Anthony Smith, 36, was found wounded in a vehicle at 19th and Jackson streets and was transported to an Indianapolis hospital, according to Caleb McKnight, public information officer for Anderson Police Department.

Smith remains in serious condition.

According to police, Smith was blocked into the parking lot of the gas station, 1825 Meridian St., by a white SUV when he was approached by a man armed with a handgun and knife.

Smith was repeatedly stabbed, after which the suspect fled the scene.

Jacob McIntyre, 29, and Travis Zapf, 22, have been identified as suspects. The two were arrested Wednesday by the APD Swat Team at a Daleville home.

The case is under further investigation. The Madison County Prosecutor's Office requested a 72-hour extension on the filing of charges.

More information is expected to be released in the coming days.
