Anaheim residents near Disneyland can soon call hotline for noise complaints

Anaheim residents impacted by noise from Disneyland construction related to Disneyland Forward or after-dark park events will soon be able to call a hotline to express their concerns, representatives from Disney announced during the Anaheim City Council meeting Tuesday.
During the meeting, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken asked Disney to clarify how residents closest to the resort can express their concerns about higher noise levels.
According to Disney, a hotline will be active during construction and will continue once construction is finished. The hotline will be available 24/7 and staffed with live representatives residents can contact.

A number for the hotline hasn’t been released since the hotline isn’t active yet.
The announcement of a hotline is the latest attempt from Disney to manage higher noise levels from the resort as it continues to host after-hours park events and begins to plan construction related to Disneyland Forward.
The Disneyland Forward proposal is a 40-year agreement that would guide where and how future developments would occur, allowing for new attractions, shops and restaurants to be built within areas of the resort that Disney already owns and operates.
Park attractions would be built alongside hotels on the west side of Disneyland Drive, along with buildings, shopping, dining and entertainment where the Toy Story Parking Area at Katella Avenue and Harbor Boulevard stands today.
An environmental impact report for Disneyland Forward stated that Disney would be required to implement temporary sound barriers during construction and permanent 12-foot-tall noise barriers along property lines outlined in expansion plans to combat noise.
Fireworks would also be prohibited in certain proposed expansion areas to mitigate noise levels in the surrounding communities.

Potential noise disturbances were an issue many Anaheim residents spoke about during Tuesday’s meeting.
City council members approved the massive $1.9 billion expansion plan in a 7-0 vote in favor of the proposal.
It will face a final city council vote on May 7. Should the proposal be approved, then changes related to Disneyland Forward wouldn’t be implemented until 30 days later.
