Amtrak buses from Worcester to Providence train station: What they cost, how often they run

WORCESTER — There is a new transportation option for Worcester residents who want to take a train to practically anywhere in the contiguous United States.

Amtrak announced on Thursday that it's offering round-trip bus service from Worcester to Amtrak's station in Providence. From there, passengers can catch a train to major points along the Northeast Corridor including Boston, New Haven and New York City. Connections from those cities will take you to more than 500 destinations nationwide.

The new service means Amtrak passengers in Worcester don't have to take a train into Boston in order to get to Providence. New Bedford is also getting round-trip bus service to the Providence station.

“Amtrak’s latest connecting bus service will bring a brand-new link from New Bedford and close an existing gap in Worcester with convenient, timed connections between trains and buses to Providence and our national network,” said Dennis Newman, executive vice president at Amtrak in a prepared statement. “Customers can enjoy a comfortable journey from start to finish knowing Amtrak will get them to their final destination with ease.”

Ticket prices for bus service between Worcester and Providence range from $19 to $39 each way, depending on availability. Buses run seven days week.
