The historic Great Dome car will return for six weeks, from September 29 to November 1, allowing customers to gaze at panoramic views of everything from glistening lakes to a kaleidoscope of leaves on all sides of the car’s upper level.

Service on the dome car will run northbound on Train 69, departing from Albany and arriving to Montreal on Thursday, Saturdays, and Mondays, and southbound on Train 68, from Montreal back to Albany on Fridays, Sundays, and Tuesdays, according to Amtrak.

Passengers will pass through sights like the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains, home to the picturesque Lake Placid which is one of America's best towns for fall colors.

Sit back as you take in views of the ruins of the famed Bannerman’s Castle, the shimmering Lake Champlain, and sights of soaring mountains aboard the 381-mile scenic route.

There’s no extra charge to ride in the car, but seats are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will also be volunteers on board to offer historical insight on the route between Saratoga Springs and Westport in New York on select trips.
