AMR asks for more time to file bankruptcy plan

American Airlines parent AMR seeks another extension to file bankruptcy-reorganization plan

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- American Airlines parent AMR Corp. has asked a federal judge for another extension, until April 15, to file a bankruptcy-reorganization plan.

The request was filed Thursday night in U.S. bankruptcy court in New York and supported by a committee representing AMR's unsecured creditors.

AMR has exclusive rights through March 11 to file a plan of reorganization and had already asked the court for permission to extend that right until April 1.

AMR filed for bankruptcy protection in November 2011. It is considering a potential merger with US Airways Group Inc.
