American Studio Pure Flix Is Reportedly Making the Thai Cave Rescue Into a Movie

All 12 children and their soccer coach have been rescued.

The incredible story of the now-completed Thai cave rescue could be headed to a big screen near you.

On July 10, all twelve members of a Thai youth soccer team and their coach were rescued from a cave that they had been trapped in since June 23, CBS News reported. The story has grabbed international attention, and production company Pure Flix Entertainment has expressed a desire to secure the film rights for the story, Deadline reported.

Described as "family-friendly and wholesome," on their website, Pure Flix has created a number of films, documentaries, and other programming, including the movie God's Not Dead, The Hollywood Reporter pointed out.

Despite the company's religious background, Pure Flix co-founder and CEO, Michael Scott said to THR, "It's not necessary to make this a Christian film, just an inspirational one." He continued, noting the importance of the story, saying, "This isn't just about a movie, it's about honoring everybody involved, including the soldier who died. This was truly a team effort involving Brits, Aussies, Americans and Thais, and the divers told us incredible stories. They had less than five meters' visibility, fought harsh currents and used a buddy system of two divers for each boy rescued. It was a monumental effort."

There's no word on any casting or release date, but Scott did tell THR that he planned to have Adam Smith of Kaos Entertainment serve as co-producer, and that a screenwriter for the film would be forthcoming. He also expressed a wish to possibly film the movie in Thailand.
