American Airlines investment could benefit Harrisburg International Airport; Here’s how

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– A new strategy from American Airlines could benefit the Midstate.

In a presentation to investors, American Airlines said it’s going to focus more on small- and mid-sized airports. Harrisburg’s is a mid-sized airport and Midstaters want more flights.

“And that’s what we’re seeing,” Harrisburg International Airport spokesperson Scott Miller said. “We’re seeing 12%, 15% capacity increases year-over-year in April and May. If it does well, and it should, I would hope that continues throughout the summer, provided Boeing and Airbus keep delivering aircraft to them, because that’s the other issue.”

Yes, Boeing and Airbus are having quality control issues and if that continues, it could mean fewer planes, and fewer seats and that means higher prices.
