American Airlines flight makes emergency landing at Dulles for mechanical issue

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A plane bound for Chicago made an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) Thursday due to a possible mechanical issue.

A Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) spokesperson said at around 7:10 p.m., American Airlines Flight 1263, which took off from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), had to divert to IAD.

The plane was able to land safely and was checked out by Airports Authority Fire and Rescue crews and then stayed on the runway.

The spokesperson said passengers were able to deplane and there were no injuries reported. There were 122 passengers and five crew members on the plane.

There were no disruptions to other flights at IAD.
