American Airlines announces DFW nonstop flights from DFW to Hong Kong, Shanghai start in 2014

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines has unveiled plans to offer nonstop flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to two major aviation hubs in Asia.

American on Wednesday announced nonstop service planned next summer to Hong Kong International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, pending regulatory approval.

Daily service between DFW and Hong Kong will use the Boeing 777-300ER, the first time American will deploy its flagship aircraft to Asia. The DFW-Shanghai route will use Boeing 777-200s.

The U.S. Department of Justice has raised antitrust concerns about the proposed merger of American, operated by AMR Corp., and US Airways. The federal trial is scheduled next month in Washington.
