Amber Krycka joins News 8 at 10 & 11 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — WOOD TV8 is pleased to announce the hiring of Amber Krycka as a main evening anchor. Kyrcka will co-anchor with award-winning journalist Brian Sterling on weeknights on News 8 at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Krycka joins WOOD TV8 from WEEK-TV, the NBC affiliate in Peoria, Illinois, where she anchored the evening newscasts. While at WEEK-TV, she focused on local issues and needs, even starting an annual letter campaign for local seniors in nursing homes.

“Television news moved me across the country and now home; there is nothing quite like Michigan. I’m so grateful to be at WOOD TV8 and tell the stories of my home state,” said Krycka. “I look forward to making a commitment and a mark here in Western Michigan.”

From Nebraska to Kentucky, to Florida to Illinois, and now Michigan, Krycka has covered hurricanes, tropical storms, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildfires and many national breaking news stories. Before her time in Peoria, Krycka also worked as a reporter and anchor in Jacksonville, Florida. She is a Michigan native, growing up in New Buffalo and Three Oaks, and a graduate of Western Michigan University.

Krycka joins Brian Sterling, Jack Doles and Chief Meteorologist Ellen Bacca Monday, March 18 at 10 p.m. on WXSP-TV and CW West Michigan and News 8 at 11 p.m. on WOOD TV8.
