We have so much love for celebrities who use their platforms to raise awareness of important issues. In a new PSA, Amber Heard spoke out against domestic violence, and it’s *so* important. ICYMI, Amber Heard accused Johnny Depp of domestic violence, and their case was ended with a settlement, with Amber Heard donating the entire settlement to charity. There are still so many misconceptions about domestic violence that need to be debunked, and we’re so proud of Amber Heard for her powerful PSA on domestic violence.

In a partnership with the Girl Gaze Project, Heard participated in the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with an extremely important video about domestic violence. Considering that Amber Heard is bisexual, it’s a necessary reminder that domestic violence is also an LGBT issue.

You’ll definitely want to hear what Amber Heard has to say about domestic violence.

In the video, she says that it wasn’t easy to come forward.

“I guess there was a lot of shame attached to that label of ‘victim.’ It happens to so many women. When it happens in your home, behind closed doors, with someone you love, it’s not as straightforward.”

Why? Because it was someone she trusted, and cared about. She explained,

“If a stranger did this it would be a no-brainer.”

Amber Heard continued,

“As a woman having gone through this in the public stage. I have a unique opportunity to remind other women that this doesn’t have to be the way it is. You don’t have to do it alone. You’re not alone, and we can change this.”

The truth about domestic violence is that it’s an extremely messy and difficult issue, and, as Heard explained, it isn’t easy to come forward as a victim or survivor. We’re sending her so much love, and we’re hoping she’s taking care of herself in this extremely challenging time.
