An Amber Alert was issued Saturday morning for 15-year-old Kaylee Cope.

An Amber Alert for a missing 15-year-old girl from Grove City was canceled Saturday afternoon after police said they found her safe and arrested her 17-year-old boyfriend.

"The Grove City Division of Police would like to thank the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Columbus Police, and all our law enforcement and media partners for assisting with a safe resolution," Grove City police said on X, formerly called Twitter.

Kaylee Cope's mother, Heather Zogleman, reported her daughter missing at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, saying Kaylee left home a few hours earlier and couldn't be reached by phone, according to Grove City police.

Police believed was she with her boyfriend, Jeffery Gimenez, who they alleged had a gun and whom they considered dangerous, as he has warrants for robbery and kidnapping stemming from "an incident" in Pickaway County.

After issuing the alert, police learned Kaylee was with Gimenez and that he allegedly posted a video on social media of himself holding a gun, making statements that "he has a bullet" for the victim.

An Amber Alert is a notification system to help find abducted children, first developed in Texas in 1996.
